Dry-Coupled Ultrasonic Testing

INTEGRATED SYSTEMS AND IN-SERVICE INSPECTION SOLUTIONS

The conversion of electrical pulses to mechanical vibrations and the conversion of returned mechanical vibrations back into electrical energy is the basis for ultrasonic testing (UT). Although there are non-contact options available for some applications (e.g. EMAT), the most widely used technique involves using a piezoelectric element to generate the ultrasound. Due to the impedance mismatch between the piezoelectric transducer and the material inspected, a liquid couplant is typically used to transmit the vibrations from the transducer into the part and receive the vibrations back into the transducer. While this technique is very efficient and popular, liquid couplants used for ultrasonic inspection can be harmful to the part and environment, make some inspections cumbersome or...

High-Power Portable Ultrasonic Instrument

INNERSPEC POWERBOX H

The Innerspec PowerBox H is designed for ultrasonic applications that require very high voltages and/or long bursts of energy such as non-contact techniques (EMAT, Air-Coupled) and inspection of highly-attenuating materials. The instrument is capable of generating up to 1200V or 8kW

of peak power at speeds of up to 300Hz. It incorporates integrated digitizer and broadband pulsers/receivers to perform a variety of flaw inspection, thickness, and material

property measurements in factory or field environments. Spike and tone-burst pulses at frequencies from 100 kHz to 6MHz can be generated to excite a full range of ultrasonic wave modes, including bulk and guided waves in pulse-echo and pitch-catch arrangements. For pulse-echo...

Tube & Tank Inspection

TEMATE@ MRUT (MEDIUM RANGE UT)

The temate® MRUT uses medium-range guided waves with a typical inspection range between 0.1m (4”) and 5m (200”) to detect corrosion, cracks and discontinuities on tubes, gas lines, oil pipelines and storage tanks. The system uses Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) technology to perform

fast scanning on exposed tubes and tanks as well as inspections of inaccessible areas from a fixed position. With the use of higher frequencies and a shorter range, this technique detects isolated pitting and wall loss with up to 10 times better resolution than Long Range UT systems with minimal dead

zone...

TEMATE@ PXI Pulser/Receiver

HIGH-POWER ULTRASONIC INSTRUMENT

ADVANTAGES

The temate® PXI Pulser/Receiver is a high-power ultrasonic instrument designed to be installed on a standard PXI or Compact-PCI chassis. The instrument provides 8kW (1200Vpp toneburst) of power which is ideal for researchers and integrators interested in a compact, high-power ultrasonic instrument to drive both Electro Magnetic Acoustic Traducers (EMAT) and piezoelectric transducers (standard or air-coupled).

The pulser can be operated directly from any PXI compatible computer using dedicated...

Boiler Tube Inspection System

TEMATE@ TG-IS(B)

The temate® TG-IS(B) is a portable system designed to measure wall loss and detect Hydrogen Corrosion Cracking (HCC), Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC), caustic gauging, and similar types of defects in boiler tubes.

The system uses high-power Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) technology to perform high-speed scans of 100% of the tube wall. The inspection requires minimum surface preparation and it is effective on tubes with surface and internal corrosion and pitting.
